And Then There Were Eight
How much you wanna bet that the next issue of The Onion will have a headline about Disney voting to no longer designate Pluto as an animated character?


It’s not every day you walk into a theatre greeted by a jazz arrangement of the Israeli national anthem, but Brian Gelfand’s jaunty arrangement might well serve as a mating call on New York’s Upper West Side, described as “the Jewish single girl capital of the world” in Marc Goldsmith’s smart, funny and touching urban romantic comedy, Danny Boy...


Life just hasn’t been the same since all my Friendster pals moved on to MySpace. And no doubt by the time I’ve figured out how to download a tune onto my profile, half the people in my extended network will have switched to Facebook, Xanga or whatever next week’s flavor of the month will be. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you’re probably the type of person whose social live involves getting dressed, leaving your apartment, having face to face contact and (gasp!) just being yourself.

YourPlace… or Mine? is inspired primarily by MySpace.com, the most popular of the on-line social network websites, where members post their coolest photos and leave out all embarrassing details when answering questions about their interests, education and favorite TV shows, in hopes to connect with others who are presenting equally selective versions of themselves...


Once again, large squares of multi-colored confetti are being tossed into the air by a young man who doesn’t speak, and a terrible void left in New York’s theatrical universe has been lovingly filled with the poetry, humor, romance and whimsy of Tom Jones’ words and Harvey Schmidt’s music. The Fantasticks, taken away from us four and a half years ago as a victim of skyrocketing rents, has returned in a joyous production that is less of a revival and more of a transfer of the show that premiered 46 years ago at the Sullivan Street Theatre...
